One Bad Day

We had one exciting day last Saturday. While cleaning and preparing for the North Carolina/Duke rivalry game party Addison approached me from behind while I was vacuuming. I did not hear her because the Dyson is SO loud, needless to say while pulling the vacuum back she got whacked in the face. Her eye was swollen almost shut and she cried for a long time. I felt so terrible. What kind of mom gives her kid a black eye? Not my finest parenting moment. After 4 Otter Pops and a few episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse she seemed to forget all about it.

Later that night after the exciting conclusion of the game Addison decided to show her excitement by showing off for all the boys who were downstairs watching the game. She was rocking on the rocking moose and rocked so hard that the moose tipped over backwards into the rock fireplace. Franklin picked her right up and knew that we had to take her to instacare for stitches (or staples). The girl knows how to clear a party, people left super quick and we were off to see the doctor. She was so brave and didn't even cry the whole time we were at the instacare (I was on the verge of losing it the entire time). Four staples later we were done. I was worried that the nurse would turn us in to DCFS because our daughter looked like she had been in the fight of her life, luckily I had witnesses. The nurse didn't seem too concerned about our parenting, thank goodness. Addison was so brave that the nurse gave her two tokens to redeem for "treasure", she was excited. The pictures of her eye were taken the day after so it looks a lot better than it did Saturday.
